Stan & Marilyn's Monthly update         February 2007

HI everyone,

Time has flown by since our visit to Canada over Christmas! We send our apologies for not communicating sooner. It was such a blessing to be able to attend one of the Christmas Eve services at Promontory Church. We were also able to meet with some of you individually.

God is so good and has blessed us with prayer and fianacial support and we know that we could simply not do the work here without all of you!

The Lord brought us back to reality when we arrived home to find that we had no power, no water and no propane. It helps us remember how many of the people we minister to live. After a few cold nights and showers Stan had eveything worked out.

Ramon was quite happy to be back at home and didn't stop grinning the whole first day we were back. We were so blessed to know that he had such wonderful loving care in the home of Les and Val Klassen while we were away.

Many new things are happening here at IDT. As the ministry has gone through some restructuring, Stan was given the responsibility of being the administrator for the Mexico missions directors of IDT. This means he spends some of his time in his office in meetings with different directors, sorting through their needs and answering emails. Please be in prayer for him as he tries to assist them as best he can. It has been a stressful time for him and we covet your prayers.

I continue to be involved in purchasing uniforms for school children, and outreach with Elia. We were blessed to have doctor Alex Bartel from Chwk.

out here a few weeks ago. It was a joy to take him out to visit sick people in different communities. I have been dispensing the medications as prescribed for some of the patients he saw here.

In Jan. a group blessed IDT by stuccoing the outside and drywalling the inside of our dining hall here at the base.

At present we are beginning to plan outreaches for the coming months. We, Stan and I will be traveling to San Ignacio, Mulege, Loretto and Constitution in May once again. Our focus this time will be on womens and youth outreach. We are planning for a team that will do drama, music, christian videos to been shown for youth, and also share the word of God. We would like to do a ladies retreat in Loretto or Constitution. Please pray that God will provide the team, and the resources for this trip. Our wish is to bless people with whom we come into contact with resource material to further their ministries. We ask you to pray that God will lead and direct us as we plan. We plan to leave here the last weekend of April and return here at the latest by May 11th.

A group of missionaries from IDT will be traveling to Isreal for outreach, on March 19th. Also in April two or three will be heading to Liberia to encourage a pastor there that sought us out for assistance. He is in charge of 200 pastors in his area, and is desperate for some assistance and resources. We already have gathered funds to bless him with a generator. We pray for direction as to IDT's future part in his ministry.

Stan has been working hard at developing IDT new property. It will be our future new campsite for groups. The land has been cleared and leveled and construction of the bathroom facilities is beginning.

The property formerly known as La Paloma is now El Corazon. God sent a gentleman who has been in missions for many years here to IDT and has laid it on his heart to direct this property. It will be used as a retreat center for groups, minister to the fishing villages in the area etc. Pray for him and his two daughters as they take on this task.

In past years some of you may have met Angel. He is a man in a wheelchair that grew up in the orphanage here in Vicente Guerrero. He works out of his home in San Vicente but continues his ministry of converting wheelchairs to be better suited to our terrain here. He has approached IDT for assistance to travel to a large campo of 5,000 people in Sinaloa also to visit Oaxaca.

His desire is to photograph and measure handicapped people in these remote areas and convert wheelchairs to meet their specific needs. He would then in the future need assistance to return and deliver these chairs. Please pray for the finances and people to assist him in this minstry. He is a man in a wheelchair desiring to bless other handicapped people.

In our fellowship times here at IDT we continue to pray for revival here in Baja, Mexico. I Cor. 12 tells us that until we recognize and support one another in our different giftings we will not be a unit. This means between different pastors and ministries as well. When Christians don't operate as a unit we hold back the work of the Holy Spirit, and we hinder revival.

Revival begins in each one of us and until we see the speck of gold in each person we meet instread of the negative, the problem remains with us and we need to allow God to do a work in our hearts instead of asking Him to do a work in them. Then and only then can we be truly effective.HI everyone,

" Put on the Garments of Praise in the spirit of heaviness."....these lines from a favorite chorus have been what we have been setting our mind to in the last month. We have encountered many trials but God is so good and so faithful through it all. After much discouragement we started our journey to Loretto and Constitution early the morning of Oct. 30th. Immediately when we were on our way the group of twelve in our van felt at peace. It was as though God was telling us that we were in His will. We had a very good trip and didn't encounter any resistance at the Baja South border, even though 6 of our team did not have up to date visa's. We had stopped for prayer before we crossed the border and when we got there the border guard simply said that we could continue on and get the visa's when we reached Loretto.

Thankyou for your prayers. Our first stop was at the home of a pastor Rita in San Ignacio. It is a beautiful little town built around a mission. It is an oasis in the desert with many Palm trees. As we drove into town the damage from the hurricane was evident although not severe. All twelve of us were welcomed into the pastors home for the night. We were able to spend the evening praying with her and her husband and encouraging them with a promise to come spend more time with them on the next trip. The next day we were off to Mulege, where there was extreme damage. There was not much rebuilding going on as yet, as they were still working on the roads, water systems etc.

We stopped to visit another pastor whose new block church had water almost to the roof. The only damage however was the windows were blown out.

Next morning we were off to Loretto. We had a full schedule of church services, and on Saturday we led a pastors and leaders luncheon. This was such a blessing though a little intimidating for some of us. Wealso did puppet shows and took the Jesus video to two campos of men. Both campos consist of men working on the construction projects in the new retirement village in Loretto. The second campo had approx. 250 men and we women in the group were not allowed in because they felt it would be too dangerous. The men in the group showed the Jesus video to about 60 men in one of the rooms and 53 of the men came forward to accept Christ!

Sunday we were off to Constitution which is about two more hours. We held a church service on a dirt lot under a tarp for a small group of people that are hoping to build a building to meet in soon. After this we were able to meet another pastor couple for lunch and plan for some future programs for their church. We already have a group of people interested in going once again in May. The pasotrs down there just beg us to please keep coming because they feel so very alone. We would like to in future do a youth rally and maybe a ladies retreat.

It was so amazing to see how God worked in the hearts of everyone in our group. We spent an afternoon at one of the beautiful beaches in the area and were able to witness to several travelers. We pray that seeds were planted and that God will send someone to water them.

Please pray that we will be able to set up a fund for these very important trips, as it is a real stretch to the budgets of some of the missionaries in the group.

When we arrived home we found that someone had cut our wires so we had no power. They targeted some other missionaries that were away as well and actually took all the cables.

As for Ramon he was the best traveler in the whole group. He was so content which was another answer to prayer. He was sleeping in different places and never getting his naps it seemed. We are still praying that we will be able to get him to his appointment in L.A. for Dec.14th although it would take a miracle at this point to get all the paperwork done on time. As with everything in Mexico it is taking extreme patience and perserverance to get it done.

Thankyou so very much for all your prayers and support, and if all goes well with Ramons papers we hope to see you around Christmastime.

Marilyn

Stan & Marilyn's Monthly update             October 2006

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know what is happening with our trip south. We are planning to head out on Monday at about 5 a.m. We didn't find out till yesterday wether we could leave on Monday without jeperdizing Ramons passport proceedure. We will have to go to Mexicali at some point but they couldn't tell us if our appointment would be next week or three weeks from now. SOOOOO frustrating. We will be gone to Loreto from one to two weeks.

After the first week we will call from there to see if we have an appointment yet and if we do we will adjust our trip.

Please pray for us as we are having such opposition from the enemy. We have all been struggling with sickness that we can't seem to shake totally.

Stan was not able to get the electrical done on the van locally that would allow us to pull the trailer with it. ( we were going to take our truck and another one) He is trying to get it done in San Diego today after he drops the group off at the airport. A whole group of people going on the trip went to Enscenda yesterday to get their visas to get into Baja South and one of them accidently mentioned that they were missionaries and they were all denied the visas and threatened with arrest and told to get out of the country immediatly. Of course they came back here, and we will head out anyway and try at the Baja south border. We feel that God has something special planned for this trip, or the enemy wouldn't be trying so hard to discourage us from going. We have prayed and prayed that if it is not Gods will for us to go right now that we would know it in our hearts, and yet as we pray we feel more determined and we feel we are supposed to go. On Monday night we will stay in San Ignacio(only 6 hrs from here)and visit a pastor there. Then on Tuesday we will continue to Mulege(there were several chirstian churches detroyed there during hurricane John)Hopefully we can encourage them and leave them some resources for their churches. Then on Wed. we will go to Loreto and share music and testimonies and a short message in several churches. WE are also doing the program for a leadership cpnvention on Sat. We will definitely be stretched. On to Constitution for Sunday to do a service there. We are bringing puppet shows, and the Jesus film and Passion of the Christ as well to show in the campos in the mountains. Our main music people have backed out of the trip at the last minute, so that throws a whole twist into as well. We really need your prayers as Baja South is even more strict about missionaries. We have to be very careful and not do anything that is not under the umbrella of one of the churches there. Not even give out Bibles unless someone asks us for one.

We hope that you can still come visit us soon(Jake and Loretta) and we would love to have the rest of you anytime as well. Take care,

love Marilyn

Stan & Marilyn's Monthly update                 July 2006

Dear friends;

We are happy to say that we had a very uneventful trip back home to Mexico. It is always good to be home although we enjoyed our visit to Canada. The weather has been great since we got back which helps. All is well here and we are back at work. Stan is having a bit of a trying week, so your prayers would be appreciated. Our home has been a revolving door since we got back. It is always nice to know that we were missed. Many Mexicans just like to come visit, and you just never know if they are here for an hour or for the day.

Ramon remembered us which was a relief for us. He is doing very well, and just today the Lord brought us a huge answer to prayer. We have been submitting his future and healing into Gods hands, as a couple and corporately. This week I heard about a new children's hospital in Tijuana, built by Americans. I contacted them yesterday. Today they informed me that on Saturday they have an orthopedic specialist from the U.S. visiting and that Ramon is a perfect candidate for their hospital. Although they were already booked for the day they decided to fit Ramon in for his first consultation. God is so good! We are to be prepared for a long wait and to bring clothes and food in case we need to stay the night. I can't even tell you how excited I am. Finally someone wants to examine him! Thank you for your prayers for him at that end.

Please continue to pray for Cielo as she is back in Tijuana in the care of family. She is starting to feel better, but it is difficult to be gone from home so much. Also pray for Armando as he tries to spend time there with her, and take care of his church here at the same time. It has been many months since she has been completely well.

We hope and pray that all is well with you all and look forward to hearing from some of you.

love in Christ, Marilyn

Stan & Marilyn's Monthly Update             Aug. 2006

It seems time just flies by here as we are sure it does there in Canada as well. We are more than busy with groups right now, in fact it is 8:50 p.m.

on Thursday night and Stan was called back to the base to check in with our present visiting group. We are so very blessed here at IDT to have so many people from so many parts of the U.S. and Canada so enthused about helping the Mexican people of the Baja. This week our guests are from Virginia. They have been coming faithfully for many years. This week saw 9 houses constructed in two different colonias. Besides the houses the group provided VBS in Armandos church and also planned various other outreaches in the evenings.

Last week I spent most of my days visiting a family that was having a house built. The lady of the house was adamant that I come with the group every day. She is a wonderful lady and I was able to get to know her quite well and give her a Bible and ask her to start by reading the gospel of John. I look forward to returning in the coming weeks to discuss what she has read. Her name is Jackeline.

Ramon is doing well and eating his baby cereal and Gerber bananas. He still prefers to be at home but is doing much better in group settings. We have already been contacted by the U.S. consulate and they are working on getting him a passport for his Oct. appointment in Los Angeles.

I am happy to report that Cielo is back at home and feeling much stronger.

She is however on medication for depression. Her mother is here helping her with the children. Thank you for your prayers in that regard. For those of you who have met Elia, her son fell a few weeks ago and broke his leg.

Yesterday he had surgery in Ensenada to put a pin in his leg. She has been at his side in the hospital all this time as he is deaf and needs her there to be his ears and speak for him. In Mexican hospitals family has to provide all the care meals, bath, etc) for the person in the hospital as the staff only takes care of his medical needs. She called the other day and she sounds very exhausted. I'm sure this is a huge strain on her budget. Please be in prayer for her and her son Benjamin. He is 23 years old.

Praise God that our prayers for funding for a reliable van to take children to the clinics has been answered! We are in the process of making arrangements for the purchase.

We are looking forward to the visit of some of Stan's family in the coming week. We are also expecting several other sets of guests this summer. At this time we have Erica staying with us. She is joy to have in our home.

In his service, Marilyn

                 Ramon update             July 2006

Hi everyone,

WE would like to thank you for all your prayers in regards to Ramon. God has given us some divine appointments, and His timing is amazing. Although we were quite disappointed that we were not able to bring him to Canada with us when we visited in May, God knew that He had a better plan. Last week we were told of a new hospital built just south of the American border, at the Otay border crossing in Tijuana. It was built and is funded by Americans, and services are free to Mexican children. Doctors from the U.S. cross the border and donate their services. I tried to book an appointment for Ramon last week but couldn't get on their website for some reason. This forced me to call their head office in San Diego. The person in charge answered the phone, listened to my story, personally called the hospital in Tijuana and had them fit us in to see the doctors today although all the appointments had been booked already. She has taken a special interest in Ramon and asked me to send her and their office the results of our visit today. As we had to be there early this morning to line up, we traveled into Tijuana last night and took a hotel. This hospital is an amazing place. This weekend the Shriners were visiting and when the families arrived each child was given a free bag lunch for the long wait and also a new toy when they left. They bent over backwards to try to make everyone comfortable during the long wait. We had been told to be prepared to wait all day and we did.

When we did get in to see the pediatrician he turned out to be the pediatrician from the Shriners hospital in Los Angeles. He confirmed what other doctors had guessed at. Ramon has --Anthrogryposis- which can include a wide variety of symptoms. He informed us that at their hospital they run a special Anthrpgryposis clinic the first Thursday of every month. He encouraged us to wait till Oct. when he has had a chance to develop a little more, at which time they would do all the testing to confirm this diagnosis and put together a plan for treatment. We would have to spend a few days in L.A. at this time. In the meantime we will get his pasport to get him across the border. If we have any problems they will handle it for us. This was very encouraging.

As we waited in the line up we had a chance to chat with many of the other parents. I was able to encourage a mother of one son who said that she dearly wanted to have more children, but since she doesn't have a husband she didn't think that was a good idea. I told her that we were Christians and she said that her mother is one as well and she knew that Christians were good people. She said that her mother spends a lot of time involved in her church. I hope I gave her a few things to think about.

It was heartbreaking to see so many children with so many types of deformities, but encouraging to know that these were the fortunate ones, getting the help they needed. It breaks our hearts to think of all the ones that are in the campos and have no way of getting to Tijuana to get the help they need. On the way home Stan and I were talking and decided to start praying for a reliable van to transport children to these clinics. We know of several children right now that might be able to benefit from this clinic.

While at the clinic I noticed that these children seem to have a real compassion for one another though their problems were of different types.

One little girl Sophia in particular took a real interest in Ramon. She was only 5 years old and had had surgery on a double harelip. She was healing nicely and was now able to speak in a way that we were able to understand.

She was so very loving to Ramon and massaged his feet and legs. She was very concerned that he be able to play in the playhouse in the waiting room with the other children one day. Another little girl of about 7 or 8 was outside practicing walking to show the doctor. She has had multiple surgeries on her legs and she was so proud to be able to take some steps.

One lesson we keep learning is that God has a plan and it may not always fit with ours, but in these times we just need to be patient and trust in Him. We are again and again learning to take life one day at a time.

God bless you all,

love Marilyn
